Festive Advertising / Cultural Campaigns
Festive & cultural campaign production design for advertising films.
Set Craft develops culturally specific environments for festival-led advertising, branded films and regional campaigns — using research, spatial design, props, practical lighting and controlled festive layering to make the occasion read clearly on camera.
Recognition without cliché
Cultural specificity matters more than visual excess.
A festive campaign often has only a few seconds to establish time, region, household and emotional context. The temptation is to add more colour, more flowers, more lights and more props. On camera, that can quickly flatten the hierarchy of the frame.
We begin with what the story actually needs the audience to recognise. From there, architecture, practical light, textiles, ritual objects, flowers, furniture and colour are organised into a coherent environment rather than a collection of festive symbols.
Selected campaign / IFB Diwali
Festive design built around an everyday homecoming story.
The IFB Diwali film needed the house to feel lived-in first and festive second. Practical lighting, verandah detail and restrained celebration cues supported the emotional arc without turning the location into an event set.

Campaign contexts
Different festivals need different visual logic.
Diwali, Durga Puja, Navratri, Onam, Pongal, Holi and other regional campaigns should not collapse into one generic “Indian festive” vocabulary. Research determines which details are essential, which are optional and which should stay out of the frame.
Festival-led advertising films
Homes, streets, courtyards, offices or built sets adapted around the script, brand and visual expectations of the festival.
Regional cultural campaigns
Production design shaped around local architecture, rituals, textiles, flora, food, household detail and visual behaviour.
Multi-region campaigns
Several cultural worlds designed under one brand system while preserving clear differences between regions and celebrations.
Product & lifestyle integrations
Festive environments planned so the product remains legible within colour, light and decoration rather than competing with them.
Visual Archive / Spatial studies
Exploring festive environments beyond one finished campaign.
These Set Craft visual studies are used here as spatial references, not as completed client campaign case studies. They show how architecture, light, colour and gathering spaces can shift the mood of a festive frame.

Production-design scope
What a festive campaign scope can include.
The work can range from selective dressing of an existing location to a complete built environment. Scope is driven by script, camera, location condition, number of campaign films and how culturally specific the world needs to be.
Cultural & visual research
Festival, region, ritual, household and material references organised into a clear visual direction before buying or fabrication begins.
Location transformation
Existing homes, courtyards, offices, venues or streets assessed for what can remain, what needs dressing and what needs to be built.
Colour, textile & floral direction
Palette and surface relationships coordinated with wardrobe, skin tone, cinematography, product colour and time of day.
Practical lighting & decoration
Diyas, string lights, lanterns, flowers and decorative elements placed as part of the composition and coordinated with the lighting team.
Furniture, props & ritual objects
Household and cultural objects chosen for narrative relevance, authenticity, continuity and how they read at the intended lens and distance.
Fabrication, dressing & shoot support
Custom scenic elements, sourcing, installation, final styling and on-set refinements handled according to the production requirement.
Camera first
The frame decides where the celebration needs to be.
A wide establishing shot can carry architecture, lighting and crowd energy. A close family moment may need only a few carefully placed cues. Product shots may require quieter backgrounds and more controlled colour relationships.
We therefore map the campaign by shot type and story beat rather than applying the same decorative density to every corner of the location.
Working process
From festival context to shoot-ready environment.
Script & campaign context
We identify festival, region, audience, product moments, locations, films, shoot schedule and what the campaign needs viewers to recognise immediately.
Research & visual direction
References are filtered into architecture, palette, materials, decorative light, flowers, props and cultural details appropriate to the story.
Spatial & camera planning
Key shots, performer movement and product visibility determine where the environment needs depth, quietness, practical light or stronger festive cues.
Sourcing & fabrication
Regional props, custom scenic work, textiles, furniture, florals and practical elements are planned around availability and lead time.
Install, dress & shoot
Final dressing is checked through the camera, adjusted with cinematography and maintained for continuity across scenes or campaign films.

Common questions
Festive campaign production design FAQs
Do you create festival sets for advertising films only?
This page focuses on filmed work: advertising films, branded content, digital campaigns and narrative content. Decoration-led festive environments and selected event briefs can also be taken up through Set Craft Decor.
Can you work with an existing house or location?
Yes. Many festive campaigns benefit from transforming a believable existing location rather than building everything from scratch. We assess what the architecture already gives the film and design only what needs to change.
Can you handle several regional versions within one campaign?
Yes. We can develop a shared campaign framework while changing the culturally specific architecture, props, textiles, ritual elements and colour logic for each region.
How early should production design enter a festive campaign?
Before key locations, special props and major decorative systems are locked whenever possible. Festival-specific sourcing and fabrication can have longer lead times, especially close to the celebration period.
Do you work outside Mumbai?
Yes. Set Craft is Mumbai based and works across India. Execution strategy, sourcing and local support are planned according to the campaign, region and schedule.
