Advertising Films / Branded Content
Production design for advertising films and branded content.
Set Craft develops camera-ready environments from script, treatment and location through set design, art direction, fabrication, props, styling and shoot-day refinement.
Design for the frame
The set should make the film easier to shoot — not harder.
Production design starts before decoration. We study what the audience needs to understand, how actors move through the space, what the camera needs to reveal, where light needs access and what the brand needs to communicate without turning the environment into a showroom.
The result may be a fully built set, a transformed location or a hybrid approach. The right choice depends on the script, camera language, schedule, location, number of setups and the level of finish needed on screen.
Selected advertising-film environments
Different stories need different spatial decisions.
Domestic World / Production Design
Purrfeto
Layered rooms, controlled colour and lived-in detailing developed for a contemporary commercial frame.
Institutional World / Art Direction
School AI by Coschool
Character-led offices and staff spaces shaped through furniture, books, props and visual density.
Festive Campaign / Location Transformation
IFB Diwali
An existing home transformed through festive lighting, prop language and controlled cultural detail.
Compact Set / Spatial Planning
Choice FinX — Walk-in Closet
A compact environment planned around lens depth, blocking, wardrobe activity and visual hierarchy.
Location Rebuild / Set Design
Common Friend — Beach Farmhouse
A location-driven environment shaped around daylight, coastal references and the film’s social tone.
Three ways we can approach the environment
Build from zero
When the script needs controlled dimensions, camera access, specific architecture or a visual world that does not exist as a practical location.
Transform a location
When the existing shell works but needs changes to colour, surfaces, furniture, lighting, dressing, signage or spatial character.
Hybrid design
When a real location provides the base and selected built elements, extensions or scenic interventions solve the frame.
Production-design scope
From script research to shoot-ready environment.
The scope can be full production design or a focused part of the process, depending on what the director, agency and production team already have in place.
Script & visual research
Narrative cues, character, brand context, cultural research, references and the visual logic the environment needs to support.
Set / location strategy
What should be built, adapted, sourced or retained — and where the production gains the most by spending on design.
Spatial planning
Layouts around frame size, camera depth, actor movement, entrances, lighting access and production circulation.
Colour, material & furniture direction
Surfaces, finishes, palette, furniture language, practicals and visual hierarchy developed for the lens.
Fabrication, sourcing & props
Scenic builds, custom elements, furniture, prop strategy and vendor coordination against the approved design direction.
Install, dressing & shoot support
Final styling, continuity, last-mile corrections and agreed production support during filming.
When production design should enter
Before locations and build decisions are locked.
Production design is most useful once the script or director treatment is clear enough to discuss space, but before the production has committed to key locations, construction methods or major prop decisions.
That timing lets us test whether a location genuinely supports the camera, decide what should be built or adapted, identify long-lead elements and protect the shoot from avoidable compromises later.

Common questions
Advertising-film production design FAQs
Do you handle both production design and set construction?
Yes. Set Craft can develop the visual direction and then carry it through fabrication, sourcing, dressing and shoot support, or work with a narrower scope where another part of the team is already in place.
Can you work with an existing location instead of building a full set?
Yes. Many advertising-film environments are location transformations rather than complete builds. We first decide what the location already gives us and what needs to change for story, brand and camera.
How early should production design start?
Ideally before final location and build decisions are locked. Early involvement makes it easier to solve access, scale, prop, material and lead-time issues before they affect the shoot schedule.
Do you work outside Mumbai?
Yes. Set Craft is Mumbai based and works across India. The production approach, local crew structure, transport and install plan are adapted to the project location.
What determines the production-design budget?
The number of environments, build versus location strategy, visual finish, custom fabrication, props, logistics, shoot duration and available preparation time all affect the final scope.

Planning an advertising film?
Send the script, references, location direction, shoot dates and indicative budget. We can define whether the project needs full production design, a custom set build, location transformation or focused art direction.
