Manipuri Wedding Set Design for Vivo Wedding Films

As part of Vivo Wedding Films, Set Craft designed and executed a wedding environment inspired by the traditions of Manipur, bringing the spirit of Thabal Chongba into a cinematic storytelling format.

The objective was to create a wedding setting that felt culturally authentic while supporting the visual requirements of an advertising film. Every design decision was rooted in regional references, traditional attire, ceremonial elements, and the vibrant social energy associated with Manipuri wedding celebrations.

Unlike conventional wedding décor, the focus was on creating an immersive environment that would feel believable on screen while enhancing the emotional narrative of the film.

The bridal entry was designed to celebrate the elegance of Manipuri wedding traditions. Traditional bridal attire, ceremonial jewelry, and soft lighting were combined to create a visually rich and culturally grounded sequence.

Designing a Manipuri Wedding Environment

Creating an authentic regional wedding environment requires more than decorative elements. The production design process involved studying traditional wedding customs, costume references, color palettes, and ceremonial practices associated with Manipuri culture.

The goal was to ensure that every frame felt connected to the region’s identity while maintaining the cinematic quality expected from a national advertising campaign.

The energy of the film was inspired by Thabal Chongba, one of Manipur’s most recognizable cultural dance traditions. The set was designed to support movement, celebration, and interaction between guests while maintaining visual depth for the camera.

Close-up moments were equally important. Lighting, costume detailing, and spatial styling were carefully balanced to allow traditional craftsmanship and jewelry to become part of the visual storytelling.

Production Design Approach

For this project, Set Craft focused on three key principles:

Cultural Authenticity

Every visual element was developed using references rooted in Manipuri traditions.

Cinematic Storytelling

The environment needed to support movement, performance, and emotional moments throughout the film.

Spatial Design

Fabric installations, layered lighting, and controlled color palettes were used to create visual depth across multiple camera angles.

Behind The Scenes

Creating the wedding environment required extensive planning, fabrication, installation, and coordination between multiple departments.

The design team developed large-scale ceiling drapery installations, layered lighting treatments, and immersive spatial styling to transform the location into a vibrant wedding venue.
