Project Overview
Wedding films demand more than beautiful décor. They require environments that support storytelling, performance, cinematography, and brand integration simultaneously.
For Vivo’s Wedding Films campaign, Set Craft was commissioned to design and execute a series of five culturally rooted wedding stories across two heritage locations. Each film represented a different celebration while maintaining authenticity, cinematic appeal, and visual richness.
This project showcases the first film in the series—a traditional South Indian wedding ceremony staged within a historic courtyard setting.
The objective was to create a visually immersive wedding environment that felt authentic to the culture while providing directors, cinematographers, and actors with a dynamic space for storytelling.
Behind The Scenes | Location Transformation

From location recce to complete transformation, the heritage courtyard became a fully realized wedding environment through floral installations, ceremonial styling, and architectural enhancement.
Production Design Approach
The selected location already possessed strong architectural character through its arches, columns, balconies, and central courtyard.
Rather than introducing large-scale fabricated structures, the design strategy focused on amplifying the existing architecture through layered décor and ceremonial detailing.
The approach included:
- Large-scale suspended floral installations
- Traditional South Indian wedding styling
- Brass ceremonial décor
- Floral draping across multiple levels
- Ritual-specific prop design
- Camera-conscious spatial planning
- Character-focused visual compositions
Every design decision was evaluated not only from a guest perspective but also through the lens of the camera.
This ensured the environment performed equally well in wide shots, medium frames, and intimate emotional moments.
Creating Depth Through Floral Architecture
One of the defining features of the set was the extensive floral canopy suspended throughout the courtyard.
Hundreds of feet of floral garlands were strategically installed across balconies, columns, and archways to create layers of visual depth.
The installation served multiple purposes:
- Framing key performance areas
- Enhancing architectural symmetry
- Creating scale within wide shots
- Supporting foreground and background compositions
- Reinforcing the cultural authenticity of the wedding
The red, white, yellow, and orange floral palette was selected to maintain visual energy while remaining timeless and elegant.
Design Details & Styling

Traditional brass elements, ritual styling, floral detailing, and carefully curated ceremonial accessories created an authentic wedding atmosphere while supporting cinematic storytelling.
Wedding Ceremony Styling
The central wedding zone was designed around the ritual itself.
The ceremonial area included:
- Ornate wedding seating
- Brass lamps and vessels
- Floral offerings
- Traditional ritual accessories
- Banana leaf accents
- Custom floral arrangements
- Elevated havan setup
The objective was to ensure authenticity while maintaining visual clarity for camera placement.
Every element within the frame was intentionally positioned to contribute to composition, scale, and storytelling.
Designing For Camera Movement
Production design for advertising films requires more than visual beauty.
The set needed to support:
- Wide establishing shots
- Character interactions
- Product integration
- Family moments
- Emotional closeups
- Dynamic camera movement
The suspended floral installations created depth across multiple layers while maintaining clear sightlines for cinematography.
The result was a space that felt grand without becoming visually cluttered.

The Final Film
Once costumes, lighting, actors, rituals, and camera movement were introduced, the environment evolved from a wedding venue into a cinematic narrative space.
The production design became a silent character within the story—supporting emotion, culture, and the visual identity of the campaign.
